[2.0] Anchor Links

[2.0] Anchor Links

Information:

  1. By definition, an anchor link is a clickable piece on a website page or post that allows you to navigate from one page to another.
  2. Anchor links and hyperlinks are very loosely related, as both are part of the link from one page to another. A hyperlink is a link itself while the anchor link is the text or name given to the link when the hyperlink is added.

Important

In bucket we don’t send people from one page to another (using anchor links) because we use the same URL across the same funnel, instead, we send them to other places within the same page.

  1. Example: On the last two days of a campaign we want to close as many sales as possible, but the landing page we’ve created features the offer/sales section near the bottom of the page.

Using Anchor Links we can make the page automatically scroll to the offer/sales section without people doing anything. That way, their attention is driven directly to the section we wish.

Method 1: Hand code the anchor link

To create a link that takes us to a section within a page, we can do this in two quick steps:

Step #1: Setting an element ID

  1. Click to select the area that you wish people jump to
  2. From the properties menu, find the ID section and give it a name, for example, “promo” or you can also leave the default name, just note that you’ll need to remember this name later

Step #2: Configuring the link

  1. Copy the element ID that was assigned in the previous step.
  2. Add a pound sign (#) at the end of the funnel link and followed by the element ID that you had copied earlier
  3. If you put this URL on a browser tab you’ll see how it automatically scrolls to the desired section
  4. When do we use this method? If you have ads running, you can use this URL and place it on the “Redirect links” option on your funnel’s settings

Method 2: Let the System do the Hard Work

If you want buttons or links to take people to other places within the same page, this is the best way to go. For example, want to add a button/link that says “back to the top of the page” or perhaps a call to action button/link that says “show me the offer”? Then follow these instructions:

  1. Click to select the area that you wish people jump to
  2. From the properties menu, find the ID section and give it a name, for example, “promo” or you can also leave the default name, just note that you’ll need to remember this name later
  3. From the Components menu add a link/button element
  4. Click to select the element that was just added
  5. Go to its properties and click the “change URL” button, then select “Jump to”
  6. From the drop-down menu select the element ID that you had set up just recently
