Preventative Maintenance Service Request
Sears Warranties
Customers with Sears warranties are eligible for two preventative maintenance visits per year, within scheduled periods:
- Air Conditioning - Visit period February 1st to May 15th
- Heating System - Visit period August 1st to November 15th
Customers can request preventative maintenance by speaking with customer service representatives, using the IVR or requesting the service call online. Requests must be made during the scheduled visit period.
Additional notes:
- Sears will cover preventative maintenance for up to three different units regardless if additional coverage was purchased.
- This excludes Sears Downsell Warranty Plans, these plans don't include preventative maintenance.
- Sears plan owners in Hawaii only receive preventative maintenance for refrigerators.
Gold Warranties
Gold products are eligible for four preventative maintenance visits per year (one per quarter from the effective date of their warranty). Plans cover:
- Appliances
- Electrical
- Heating, Venting & Air Conditioning
- Plumbing
Gold plans only cover preventative maintenance per the plan purchased.
Find and Verify Customers/Contracts/Coverage
Create a Preventative Maintenance Service Request
- Select one of the Trade options from the list.
- Ensure Standard is selected from the Event Type and Severity drop-down lists.
- Select Preventative Maintenance from the Service Request Type drop-down list and click Next to open the Service Request Item Selection screen.
- Select the appropriate Item from the Please Select Item list. (Note differences between Sears and Gold warranties.)

- Plumbing
- Select the appropriate Brand from the Please Select Brand list. (Note, all trades will be listed as [Trade]:Other.)
- Enter N/A in the Model Number and Serial Number fields.
- Select Only Unit from the Location drop-down list. (If there are multiple units select Verify and enter the number of units in the Special Instructions and Comments fields in the Service Job section of the Service Request screen)
- Select Preventative Maintenance Event from the Problem Code drop-down list.
- Enter Preventative Maintenance in the Problem Description field and click Next to launch the Assign SP pop-up.
If the Item Brand has been selected before, a warning displays stating the Service Request limit has been reached under the customer's warranty.
Assign a Service Provider
- Select one of the following options from the Assign SP drop-down list:
- Assign to Highest Ranked SP - to find the highest ranked Service Provider who showed possible availability
- SP Extended Zip Search - to find the nearest available Service Provider
- Force Assign - to associate this service request with another multi-item service request
- Assign by SP Calendar - to assign a Service Provider based on appointment availability
- Click Continue to display the relevant page based on the selection made.
- Review the information in the Customer and Service Pro panes to ensure the customer's email is up to date, the service request matches the customer's needs and a Service Provider is selected.
- Enter "Preventative Maintenance Service Request" in the Service Description field in the Service Job section of the Service Request screen.
- Enter any special instructions, such as gate codes or access controls in the Special Instructions field and click Next to open the Payment screen. (This is also where you enter the number of units if there are multiple units and you selected Verify in the Location drop-down list.
- Ensure Deductible Amount is $0.00. Click Confirm Appointment to confirm the service appointment, then click Close to update the case profile.
- If the customer doesn't have an email, or doesn't wish to provide one, you may enter a dummy email address.

Log the Call in Zoho Desk
Overview
Customers with Sears or Gold warranties may call in to request a preventative maintenance service visit for items covered under their entitlements.
Sears and Gold warranty holders have slightly different coverage depending on which contract they hold. Sears contract holders have preventative maintenance coverage for heating and air conditioning systems, Gold contract holders have coverage for both heating and air conditioning systems, along with coverage for appliances, electrical and plumbing.
