Civil Designer Project Archive

Civil Designer Project Archive

This option will attempt to place all relevant files from a selected project into a zip file for backup or for transmittal via email. The data stored in the zip file are sufficient to recreate the project in its entirety, including data paths.

Our support staff will sometimes request a project archive as this greatly aids our support function when we need to replicate a problem you are experiencing, using your exact data. The archive is always much smaller than the sum of data sizes of the project files being used, so is much easier to send via email, and is only one file to send instead of the many files that generally make up a Civil Designer project.

Note: This function is only available when no project is currently open (to prevent problems with unsaved data).

Also note that only DR4 based projects are supported. If your project is based on a DWG drawing, save the project to DR4 before using this function.

Creating the Archive

File Menu › Archive Project

The Open dialog will appear, browse to the folder where the project that you want to archive is located, select the dr4 file and click on the Open button)

Once the project file has been selected, the various portions of the project found will be displayed. You now have the option to select what must be included in the archive.

Unless specifically stated by support, you should include all items if this archive has been requested in connection with a support query.

Once the selection has been made, click on the OK button to continue.

The Save As dialog will appear, select the folder where the archive must be created, and then give an name for the archive.

Click Save to save the new file.

A message will display once the archive has been created.
