Knowledge base 174 : Aperio Weigand AH20 Hub/Lock with Paxton Net2.

Aperio Weigand Hub with Paxton Net2 plus controller. 



The Paxton Net2 plus controller has  two Weigand reader inputs. Net2 will support a 26Bit Weigand number input into the controller. 
It is possible to add an Assa Abloy AH20 Weigand Wireless Hub to the system with some configuration changes.

The following software configuration needs to be in place : 
Firstly with the Aperio Programming tool configure the lock for the appropriate card technology 


The following shows a Mifare UID being configured.

Once configured then proceed to the Paxton Net2 configuration utility.
A custom Weigand format needs to be defined in Net2  configuration utility. 
The following is the configuration is for a 32Bit Mifare UID.  Please note that this is truncated down to 26Bit by the controller  - It is not possible to use the Paxton desktop reader to enrol tokens and it is required to set the reader mode to desktop mode to enrol a token - or once the configuration is complete badge the cards on the Aperio handle and add these access denied numbers into a user within the Paxton Net2 software. 






In the Net2 access control software you will have to use the “Wiegand custom” reader setting as token
data format. To configure the LED setting, open the Net2 server configuration utility and on the ‘General’ tab, check the
‘Display reader LED’s in OEM style’ box.


Hardware Settings : 
The settings on the rear of the Assa Abloy AH20 should be set to as follows : 
Dip Switch 1= OFF (Red LED is ignored)
Dip Switch 2-9  = OFF *
Dip Switch 10 = ON (internal aerial used)
* Your settings may need to change if terminating the wiring etc. 

From the relevant door reader on the Paxton controller  - disconnect the green LED wire (coming from the AH20 GREEN input). Take a spare piece of suitable cable and wire from the Green LED input on the reader port to the N.O. connector on the same numbered Door relay (e.g. reader1=door1). Then wire the existing green LED wire  into the COM connector of the same relay - with the other end of the cable going back to the GREEN input on the AH20 controller. 

As the relay on the Paxton controller is redundant when using an Aperio Handle  - we are utilising this relay to allow the Aperio Hub to only receive a green LED state change (which energises the handle  - to allow door opening)  when the Paxton Net2 indicates that the user should be allowed access. If the door relay does not open then any LED state change is not received by the Aperio HUB and so the door handle is not energised.
