Knowledge base 114: Tamper on HID iCLASS SE and multiclass SE Readers.

The following bulletin explains how to use the Tamper feature on iCLASS SE and multiclass SE Readers.

The tamper is enabled as default on the above readers, the Tamper sensor being signaled via the VIOLET wire
in the pigtail, or by connector P2-5 on a terminal device. The table below is an extract from the Installation
Guide provided with each reader:

With the reader fitted to the base, the Tamper output will provide a 5Vdc voltage. When the reader is
removed from the base, the tamper output will drop to 0v.

Identity Access version 2017.1 or later is capable of monitoring Tamper, but this is for Box Tamper for the
controller. Tamper per reader is not supported, but if this feature is required, a workaround could be
implemented as follows:

1. Connect the tamper output of the reader to a spare input on the door controller
2. Program the input as a Normally Open Door Contact for the appropriate door
3. If the reader is removed from the base, a Door Forced Open alarm will be generated. This alarm will
be displayed on the Identity Access alarms screen and (if programmed) the door siren will activate.
