Removing KnowIT from your employee device

Uninstall or Deactivate from your portal

You can remove KnowIT from your employee's device and delete your data all from within your KnowIT portal.

Removing KnowIT software


  1. Find the device listed on the Devices page in your account.
  2. Make sure the device is switched on and is showing connected (little green dot next to the device avatar).
  3. Click on the Action menu for the device you want and choose Uninstall.
  4. Once you’ve uninstalled the status will go offline (refresh the page after a minute or so).


Deleting Device Data


To delete all the data collected from a device you must Deactivate the license.


  1. Find the device listed on the Devices page in your account.
  2. Click on the Action menu for the device you want and choose Deactivate.
  3. Once you’ve deactivate the device will disappear from your account and all associate data will be deleted. 
The license can now be reused to activate KnowIT on another device.

Manually Uninstall or Deactivate

How to deactivate or uninstall manually on a PC or Mac

In any place on the PC or Mac, type *#123456789 (replace 123456789 with the license key used to activate) and then hit ENTER. This will activate the KnowIT UI whereby you will have the option to deactivate the software or uninstall.
If the software is already installed and not activated or has already been deactivated, type *#900900900 and press ENTER to bring up the same screen with the option to Activate or Uninstall.

How to deactivate or uninstall manually on an iOS device


If you chose to hide the KnowIT icon, dial *#123456789 (replace 123456789 with an actual license code) and place a call. This will bring up the software, with the option to Deactivate or Uninstall.
If the software is already installed but the license has already been deactivated, dial *#900900900 to bring up the same screen with the option to Activate or Uninstall.

How to deactivate or uninstall manually on an Android device


If the device is rooted and has been deactivated already

If the device is rooted, but the KnowIT icon is hidden then you must deactivate or uninstall from the KnowIT portal using the steps in the section Uninstall or Deactivate from your portal.

 If the device is rooted, but the KnowIT icon is visible, make sure you have deactivated your license key from your KnowIT portal using the steps above and then tap the KnowIT icon and then on the activation screen tap the menu button and tap Uninstall.  The software will be uninstalled and the device will restart once uninstallation is complete.

If the device is not rooted and has been deactivated already

If the device is not rooted and the software icon is not hidden make sure you have deactivated your KnowIT licene key first from your KnowIT portal using the steps above and then go to Apps > Settings > Security > Device Administrators and make sure KnowIT is not checked and tap Deactivate.  Then go to Apps > Settings > Apps > KnowIT and tap Uninstall to uninstall KnowIT.  If your license has been deactivated already but the KnowIT icon is hidden you must uninstall from your KnowIT portal using the steps above.
