How to digitally Sign your Registration Paperwork

The final stages of your registration process will be to sign some paperwork. If you do not have a printer & scanner to physically sign your paperwork, here are some helpful tips to sign right on your mobile device, tablet or computer!

For my example below, I will be using Gmail for the email provider, but this can work with any email provider.

For iPhone signing:
You will receive your email from EIE’s Student Advisors with an attachment. In our example, it will be the Enrolment Contract.  Click on the attachment to open the attachment.

Once you have opened the attachment, click the box with the arrow pointing up on the top right of the screen as shown here:

From here, click the Markup icon:

You will see multiple tools at the bottom of your screen such as (left to right) the pen, highlighter, pencil, eraser, lasso, and ruler.  The next icons are to change the color of the pen, highlighter, or pencil and finally the + icon is to add a textbox, a signature, a magnifier or shapes.

For the Enrolment Contract, we will be using both the Textbox tool and the Signature tool.  *You can also use the pen tool to sign each field manually.
To use the Textbox, click + then Text.  It will open a Textbox in the middle of the page. Double tap the box to type what you like.  For our example, we will type initials.

Once you have typed the initials, click anywhere on the screen to drag the textbox to where you want it to appear on the file.  In the screenshot below, we placed the textbox where the form says “Initial Here”.

As you can see, there are several places where we need to “Initial Here” so we will duplicate our initials to fill out the entire form.
To duplicate this textbox, click the textbox and the options Cut, Copy, Delete, Edit and Duplicate will appear.  Click Duplicate and another textbox will appear.  From here you can move the new textbox to the next “Initial Here” field. Repeat this step until all fields are filled.

To scroll to the next pages or zoom in or out, click the markup pencil icon at the top right of the page.  Scroll through the contract to fill in your initials on page 2 and 3 of the Enrolment Contract.

On page 4, you will see a place to sign your name.  You will click + and then Signature.

If you have created a signature with Markup before, click the signature that appears.  If not, click Add or Remove Signatures then click the + to add a Signature.

You will then sign the screen with your finger or a stylus if you have one!  Click Done and your signature will appear in the screen.  You can then drag it to where you need it.  You can also size it by clicking the dots on either end of your signature box.

To print your name and date, please see step 5 so you can insert a textbox.  To adjust the text size, click and drag the ball to the left to decrease the text size and to the right to increase the text size.

In this example below, I have shown both the manual signature and printed name option as well as the textbox and signature option.  As you can see, the textbox and signature option are much more legible.
Scroll through the document one last time to check that you have signed and initialed all required fields.  Remember to scroll through the document, see Step 9 and click the markup pencil at the top right corner.

If you are certain that you have signed and initialed all required fields, click the box with the arrow pointing up on the bottom left hand corner of the page as seen here.  If you do not see this box and only see the markup tools, you are in markup mode.  Click the markup icon as mentioned in Step 9 to scroll and you will then see the box with the arrow pointing up!

Once you click the upload icon (box with the arrow pointing up), you will see the following menu.  Click whichever email app you use.  For our example I am using Gmail.
Email our Student Advisors at reg@eietrainingcentre.ca and you will find your newly signed contract attached!  Click send and you’re done!

You can also download an app called Adobe Fill & Sign to fill and sign any form!  Simply download the Adobe Fill and sign app on your mobile device or tablet!

If you have any further questions surrounding this, please do not hesitate to reach out to reg@eietrainingcentre.ca
