Accudemia: How do I allow tutors to override appointment rules?

Introduction

Tutors in Accudemia can be given the ability to circumvent appointment rules set in place by administrators. While rules are created for a purpose, there are times when they can become a problem. For example, if the system won't let a tutor create an appointment less than 1 hour ahead of time, that will pose a problem if there's an emergency appointment that needs to take place in that time frame. This article will explain how to give students the ability to bypass appointment rules.

NOTE: To bypass appointment rules, tutors must be given a special permission which will turn them into "Appointment Administrators." Though they are still only tutors, the system will recognize them as administrators for the strict purpose of bypassing appointment rules (they won't have access to more sensitive options or student personal information). This means that actual administrators need to be given the permission to bypass appointment rules.

To do this, navigate to Administration > Control Panel > Appointments, and select the college or a Center as the scope. Click "Services" on the left-side of the screen, then under "Administrators," enable the "Allow administrators to bypass restrictions" permission.

Step-by-Step

1. Navigate to Administration > User Accounts, search for the user and click on their name.

2. Click on the Security tab, then under "Roles," fill in the "System User" checkbox.

3. Under "Permissions," only enable the "Appointments Administrator" permission.

Accidentally enabling the "Account Administrator" permission may give tutors powers that go beyond what was intended.

4. Finally, click the Save Changes button at the top-right of the screen.

If it worked, then tutors with this permission now have the ability to bypass appointment rules.
