Troubleshooting FuzeDrive Operation/Performance

Slow Performance

If you have just created your tier, and your data started off on your slow drive, please be patient as it can take a while (perhaps a day) of normal usage, followed by sufficient time for your data to be moved to your fast drive.  See <https://support.zoho.com/portal/enmotus/en/kb/articles/how-do-i-know-fuzedrive-is-working>.

If your system was performing well and has slowed down over time, contact us and we can help you evaluate your current working set.

Blue Screens or System Hangs

1. First, ensure you're using the latest version of our software.  See <https://www.enmotus.com/fuzedrive-support>.

2. Check if you are using any incompatible software.  See <https://support.zoho.com/portal/enmotus/kb/articles/known-software-conflicts>.

3. Update your SSD firmware.  See the website of your drive manufacturer.

4. Ensure your drives are working well.
    a.) Check the connectivity of your M.2 drives: Unscrew and re-seat your SSD.  If you have another M.2 slot available, try moving the SSD to it.  If you suspect this is your issue, you can purchase an NVMe PCIe add-in card.
    b.) Check the connectivity of your 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives: Swap out SATA cables, as they can become kinked and connectors can come loose.  Try a different port on the motherboard.  Try a different power connector from your power supply.
    c.) Ensure adequate ventilation to your drives.  You could purchase a heatsink for your NVMe.
    d.) Download a tool to check your drive firmware's statistics.  We recommend Hard Disk Sentinel, which offers a free trial.

5. Try disabling the RAM cache.  Right-click the tray icon, choose T00 FuzeDrive > RAM Cache > Off.  Though it isn't likely the cause of the error, we have seen that the cache can exacerbate system instability under some circumstances.

6. If you are tiering with an NVMe, try using the NVMe driver from the manufacturer.

* = Only use the RST NVMe driver, do not use the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (RST) installer, since it will replace the Virtualized AHCI driver that FuzeDrive/StoreMI provide.
** = No longer hosted by Lite-On.
*** = This driver may be unsigned, in which case you will need to disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows or compile and sign it yourself.
You might try another manufacturer's driver; but in that case proceed at your own risk as your system could become unbootable.  You will need to use the Device Manager, and you will be warned that it isn't designed for your hardware.  Record the .sys file name before you reboot.  If your PC doesn't boot, in the recovery environment you can try Safe mode or open the command prompt and copy C:\Windows\system32\drivers\stornvme.sys (the Microsoft driver) over your new .sys file (which will be located in the same folder).
