How do I add core parts?

FleetSquared allows you to link core parts to main parts in the system.  Anytime a main part, which is linked to a core, is added to a repair order, purchase order, or quick receiving, both the main part and the core part will be included in the transaction.  Core parts can also be returned for a full or partial refund.  This article explains how core parts can be created when adding new parts to FleetSquared, or linked to your existing parts.

Create Core with a New Part

  1. Click here if you need to review our article on adding parts in FleetSquared.  When adding a new part, you can click on the Select Core Part link to link or create the core part while creating a new part.

  2. Two radio buttons are available.  You can either select Choose From Existing Part to search for and select an existing part to be the core, or you can select Create New Core Part to add a new core part on the fly.

After filling in the required fields (marked with an asterisk), click Link Core.

  3. Click OK to save after adding the core.

  4. Both the new main part and the new core part will be added to your system in your part list, as pictured in the example below:

  1. To link a core part to an existing part, open Part -> Part Master then search for and click on the main part number.

  2. A part settings screen will pop-up.  Click Select Core Part.
