InBloom Shop Software

            Setting up your barcode scanner

Barcode readers need no additional software installation or reconfiguration out of the box.  InBloom is designed to work with the default settings of nearly all barcode scanners (producing and scanning Code39 barcodes).

Plugin the Barcode Scanner to your Mac's USB port

To begin, plug the scanner into a USB port on your computer.

            • On a Mac, DO NOT USE the Keyboard Setup Assistant that may pop up when you plug in your scanner, simply close the window (example shown below)
            • If you do accidentally go through this process, unplug the scanner, go to your Applications folder > Utilities > Terminal and type the following sudo rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.keyboardtype.plist then hit Enter, type your computer password, and try replugging the scanner again.
            • Try scanning an InBloom barcode or the barcode of a standard object such as book, postcard, etc.

In the event that your barcode scanner is not scanning barcodes correctly, you may need to reset the scanner to its factory default settings. You will need to scan a series of barcodes located in the documentation that came with the scanner.
