How to Adjust 4 mA on IRD7100 when there is no Vibration

How to Adjust 4 mA in IRD7100 reading Vibration in mm/sec RMS when Vibration is Zero (0)

IRD7100 is an Online Monitoring System. It is designed to continuously monitor vibration of a Machine and transmit its vibration to the Control Room. One popular way of transmitting the vibration information is by using 4-20 mA Output. Here, 4 mA indicates 0 Vibration and 20 mA indicates Full Scale Vibration. The steps in this article mention the procedure for setting 4 mA on IRD7100 in an event the observed mA is less or more than 4 mA when there is no vibration.
To carry the steps listed, you will need a Small Cable to make a Loop, a Fine Screw Driver with Flat head, A Multimeter with ability to read DC Current in mA and the IRD7100 Transmitter.

The steps listed with image are applicable to IRD7100 reading vibration in mm/sec RMS, but can also be used for other scaling and ranges with proper interpretation.
  1. Step 1: Ensure that IRD7100 is powered on with the correct Power Input (230 V AC, 24 V DC, 110 V AC, whichever may be applicable)
  2. Step 2: Using a Multimeter reading mA DC, measure the current across terminals 4 and 5 for Channel 1 and then Channel 2. Proceed to next step only if the value is not within +/-1% of 4.00 mA DC
  3. Step 3: If the observed value is not within +/-1% of 4.00 mA DC, then you proceed for calibration of this value. To do so, Loop Terminals 1 and 2 for the Channel which you are adjusting/calibrating and proceed to Step 4
  4. Step 4: Using a Fine Screw Driver with a Flat Head, make minute adjustments to Trimpot P2 on PCB M67124 if adjustments are being made to Channel 1 OR make minute adjustments to Trimpot P2A on PCB M67124 if adjustments are being made to Channel 2 (refer image for trimpot location). While adjusting, observe the mA DC on the multimeter.
  5. Step 5: Stop making further adjustments when the mA DC reading comes between +/-1% of 4.00 mA DC. The calibration is done. Remove the Loop on Terminals 1 and 2, and proceed to use IRD7100 as normal.
