When to be concerned about battery dents
When using and transporting our Lithium batteries it is possible they may become damaged if dropped or roughly handled in transit. When batteries are damaged or dented in a way that compresses their aluminum casing it is possible that this casing will press on and potentially pierce the internal Lithium cells. This is highly dangerous and could potentially cause a Lithium fire if used while in this state. If you are ever potentially concerned about a battery, err on the side of caution and contact Lucid's support team to confirm whether or not the battery is still safe to use.
Here are some examples of battery minor battery dents that would be acceptable to continue use.
Small dings and dents to the outer shell of the casing are not problematic and may occur even if the battery is well handled
Minor dents on the corner of a battery are acceptable as long as the aluminum casing of the battery is largely undamaged
Here are some examples of batteries that would no longer be acceptable to use
If the shell of the battery has been significantly dented or compressed then the battery is no longer acceptable for use as this compression on the cells may lead to rupture during use.
If the aluminum shell of the drone has been compromised to the point of breaking or cracked open then this battery is no longer safe to use
