Setting up WinTMS on a Client PC

Setting up WinTMS on a Client PC

This article will explain how to set up a Client PC for WinTMS. It will allow you to set up another Client PC on the network from which you can access WinTMS, but does assume that you already have a PC connected to the server/PC hosting WinTMS either locally or over a network.

Getting the Program directory

Open WinTMS on the PC that already has access to WinTMS, and then click the Help menu on the toolbar, and select About. By default, Setup Information should be open - if it isn't, click it to open it. You will then need to go to the folder shown in the Program directory:

Once there, open the LOCALCFG.EXE program:

You may be asked to Select Package. Choose TMS by using the drop-down menu.

Then, write down the Program path displayed in the window that opens. Alternatively, take a screenshot:

Setting up the new Client PC

On the new Client PC, go to the start menu and open the Run program, or press the Windows key and R. Type in the Program path from LOCALCFG, and then click OK.

Open LOCALCFG.EXE on the resulting folder, choose TMS as the package, and then fill in the details of the Client PC. Click OK to save your changes.

In the same folder, you can right-click WINTMS.EXE and click Send to, and then click Desktop (create shortcut). This will make a shortcut to WinTMS on your desktop, and allow you to access it without navigating to this folder every time.
