Behavior Tab

Configure Section
CheckOut wizard properties, Configure section
  1. Extend user's library privilege: If checked, staff can renew a patron’s expired privileges during checkout. If not checked, the patron won't be able to check out items (unless staff first renew the privilege in the Renew Privilege wizard).
  2. Pay bills: If checked, a patron can pay bills from the user alerts window when checking out.
  3. Display circulation note: If checked, an item's circulation note (if it exists) will display during checkout.
User Alerts Display Section
CheckOut wizard properties, User Alerts Display section
  1. Display alert for delinquent user: If checked, a user status of DELINQUENT, BLOCKED, or BARRED will display as appropriate.
  2. Display user alerts: If checked, displays important alerts, such as an available hold, claims returned items, privilege expiration, etc.
  3. Display alert for previous loan: If checked, alerts staff if patron previously checked out a copy of the title. This property is available only in libraries that use the charge history feature.
Sounds Section
CheckOut wizard properties, Sounds section
Enabling sounds is not recommended. If sounds are enabled but the workstation's speakers are muted (or don't exist), WorkFlows tends to freeze.

Charge Printing Section

Format your receipt-printing options here. See WorkFlows - Receipts and Transit Slips.

Email Checkout Receipt Section
CheckOut wizard properties, Email Checkout Receipt section
Format your email receipt options here.
Paper receipts will currently still print even when you enable this feature.

Helpers Tab

Checking a helper box will add that helper icon at the top of the CheckOut wizard. Uncheck helpers you don't use to reduce clutter and confusion.

Make sure to click the button next to a selected helper to configure the helper's properties. For example, if you decide to add the Register New User helper to the CheckOut wizard, make sure the default library, profile name, etc. match your library's settings in the New User wizard (click screenshot to expand it).

If your library doesn't issue cards, or staff frequently look up patrons by name, check the Start with search helper box.

Checking Out

To check items out (or renew an item that is currently checked out):
1. Click the CheckOut wizard.

2. Pull up the patron's account using one of the following methods:
A. Scan the user ID barcode, or type it in and press  Enter or click Get User Information.

B. Search for the user in the User Search helper. If a list displays, select the user you want then click Checkout to User.
Searching for the user by name in the User Search helper
Refer to the Properties - Helpers Tab section to automatically open this helper when you open the wizard.
C. Click the Current button (if configured in properties) to select the last user record that was displayed, modified or added.
Clicking the last user record displayed, modified or added

3. Scan an item barcode. Under List of Checkouts, the item's title, call number, item ID, due date and item type will display. If there's a fee associated with the item, e.g. the item was overdue and the patron is renewing it, the bill amount will display. The total number of checkouts will appear next to the List of checkouts heading.

4. Optional: Right-click on an item (or highlight multiple items and right-click) to view more circulation functions. Doing so allows you to perform more tasks without having to open additional wizards.

5. Once you're finished scanning items, click Check Out to New User or Close. A receipt will print.
