            Using a PDF Printer

PDF printers are programs that allow you to save almost any document to a PDF.  You choose to ‘print’ the document and choose the PDF printer as the printer.  It will save the document as a PDF to your computer, instead of actually printing.

            On a School Chromebook
This feature is built into Chromebooks.  When you ‘print as a PDF’, you are not actually physically printing. You are saving a pdf copy of your document to your computer.  To print using a PDF printer, change the Destination to  Save as PDF. Then click Save. The document will save as a PDF to your downloads folder.

On a Personal PC Computer with Windows 10

To Print to PDF in Windows 10, simply open up your document in a text editor like Microsoft Word and click File > Print. (You can do this from any program that lets you print -- not just Word, and not just with a text document.) Under Printer or Destination, choose Print as a PDF. Click Print and a window will open up, prompting you to title your newly created PDF file. Name it and click Save to save your document as a PDF.
