How do I get an Add To OnSong icon in my web browser?

Many versions of OnSong ago, we had to make a slight change to the Internet import option in OnSong due to Apple making changes to how they supported this import option. So rather than using this import option to access/import songs from the web, you will want to use the Add To OnSong Safari browser extension instead to import songs from websites like Ultimate Guitar, E-Chords and Chordie.

Add To OnSong is an extension for use with the mobile Safari web browser on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.  That means the first requirement is that you need to be using the Safari app on your iOS device. Using Safari on a macOS computer or another browser will not work.  This is because OnSong presents this iOS-specific extension that can be used on the same device on while OnSong is installed.

To access the Add To OnSong Safari extension, navigate to a web page that contains a song's lyrics and/or chords. Next, tap the icon that looks like a square with an up arrow to open the Activities menu.  This presents two rows of icons.  Locate the greyscale icons at the bottom and swipe through the list.  Once you find the Add To OnSong icon, tap it.  This will place the content of the song into a queue to be imported once you open OnSong.  This way you can navigate to multiple songs and queue each in turn.

The Add To OnSong Safari extension is not enabled by default and in some cases, reinstalling iOS or OnSong can also result in the extension being disabled.  To enable the Add To OnSong Safari extension:

IN iOS 12 AND UNDER:
Tap on the Share/Activities menu in Safari (the square icon with the arrow pointing up, and swipe to the end of the greyscale icons on the far right and tap on the More button.  This will present a list of available extensions. Turn on the Add To OnSong icon using the switch.  You can also reorder the extensions in the list if desired.  Once complete, you can tap on the icon to queue the song content for import.

IN iOS 13:
iOS 13 slightly changed how to use the Add to OnSong feature in Safari. You will need to scroll to the bottom of the Share/Activities menu in Safari (the square icon with the arrow pointing up) and tap "Edit Actions...". Navigate to "Other Actions" and enable the Add to OnSong extension, then tap "Done". Once complete, you can tap on the icon to queue the song content for import.

Once you open OnSong again, you'll be prompted to import the queued content.  You must be certain that the terms of use of the website you acquired the content from gives you the write to use the content in this way. Only import content that you have the legal right to use.

You can learn more about this feature in our Add To OnSong Video Tutorial.
