What are Price Levels?

Price Level Settings

  • All parts have default price levels: Minimum Price, Retail, Sale Price, Package Price, and Preferred Customer. These price levels cannot be renamed.
  • All parts have an additional three price levels available; their names are set by each store.
  • Find these in Office > Back Office Settings > Price Levels

Price Level Definitions

Cost

Cost is what the store pays when purchasing an item from your vendor.

MSRP

MSRP is the manufacturer’s suggested retail price and is used in conjunction with price formulas only; this price is not seen by the customer directly.

Minimum Price

Minimum Price is the level at which a user’s permission setting will be triggered. If the user does not have permission to go below minimum price, manager override will be prompted in Point of Sale.

Retail (List) Price

Retail Price is the default price of any item in Orchid POS when it is sold to a customer.

Sale Price

Sale Price is used when a part is set On Sale.

Package Price

Package Price is an internal management reference and is NOT used by the package system.

Preferred Customer

A pre-named price level to assist with providing discounts to preferred customers.
