Creating a FSA ID

Creating a FSA ID

You can create or edit a FSA ID at the Federal Student Aid website. FSA IDs are for your use only and you are not authorized to create a FSA ID on behalf of someone else, including a family member. When you create a new FAFSA ID, you will need to enter an email that you are able to access and you will choose a Username and Password. Make sure to use a separate email for each individual (parents and students cannot use the same email). Next, you will enter your date of birth, Social Security number, contact information. You will also be asked to choose two challenge questions, create two challenge questions and pick an important date (cannot be your birth date). It is important to choose questions and a date that you will remember in the future because the FSA ID will be linked to your Social Security number and you will not be able to create another. If you forget your username or password, you will be given the option to retrieve either one by the email linked to your FSA ID or answering the security questions. Once you have reviewed your information and accepted the terms and conditions, you will be sent a confirmation email with a secure code. Once you have followed  the directions to verify your FSA ID, you will be able to use it to log into the Federal Student Aid web sites.
