Problems logging in to FAFSA

If you are unable to log into your FAFSA, it could be because you are entering the wrong information or your password has expired. Your password must be changed every 18 months. You can choose a new password by selecting the "Edit My FSA ID" tab on the FSA ID home page. If you have forgotten your username or password, click on the "Forgot My Username" or "Forgot My Password" on the "Edit My FSA ID" tab. If it has not been 18 months since you created your FSA ID and you are sure that you have the correct username and password, there could be a problem with the Social Security number on the FAFSA or the FSA ID. If the Social Security number linked to the FSA ID does not match the one used to fill out the FAFSA, you will not be able to log in using the FSA ID. To determine if this is the case, you can try to log into the FAFSA using the "Enter the Student's Information" option on the right side. If you are able to log in there using your correct Social Security number, the problem is most likely with the FSA ID. Log into the FSA ID website and click on the "Edit My FSA ID" tab. Check to make sure that under the "Status" the Social Security Administration Status says Matched. If it does not, click on the "Edit My FSA ID" link to the right of the Profile Summary. Make the appropriate corrections to the Social Security Number and click continue in the bottom right corner. This will submit your information back to the Social Security Administration for verification. Once the information has been verified and matched, you will be able to use your FSA ID to log in to the FAFSA. If you need additional help, please contact the Federal Student Aid helpdesk at 1-800-557-7394.
