Chunking Panopto videos into shorter sessions

There are times when faculty may want to break (or chunk) their lecture videos into shorter sessions. To do so, you will need to make multiple copies of the original session, one session for each additional shorter video you want to create.

Smart Chapters and Table of Contents

Alternatively, we recommend adding Smart Chapters or a Table of Contents to long videos as it provides a way for students to quickly review previously viewed content. Detailed instructions on Smart Chapters and Table of Contents can be found in the following articles:

Making copies of Panopto videos


Locate the desired video and click Settings.


Click Manage [1] and click Copy [2].


Click OK to copy the session.


Panopto begins to make a copy of the video. Click the in the upper right-hand corner to close the settings window.

Edit

The new copy of the video will process.
Once the copy has finished processing, click Settings to change the names of the original and the copy (e.g. Part 1, Part 2).
Click Edit to make the necessary cuts to the original and copy.
