How to resolve Dropbox pop up message regarding moving files

Summary

Users with Roaming Workstations may see the pop up message If you move this file to 08, it won't be available in Dropbox or on any devices.  This message can occur on the main computer, as well as on roaming workstation computers multiple times throughout the business day.  This article will describe how to eliminate this pop up message

Instructions

  • Look in your system tray (lower right hand corner of windows - next to the clock)
  • The roaming workstation sync agent will be shown as an icon 
  • You may need to expand the items in the system tray, by clicking on the up arrow symbol ^ in order to see the roaming workstation sync agent


  • Double click on the roaming sync agent 
  • On the Roaming Workstation Sync agent window, select the Advanced tab
  • Remove the check mark to the left of Manage deleting sync files
  • Click Close

Note:  This must be done on the office computer in charge of the Roaming Workstation sync agent and on all  affected roaming workstations. 

Once you have made this change, make sure to empty your recycle bin on each computer on a frequent basis.
