How to setup Measure Charge, Shipping and Installation to automatically calculate in Solatech

There are two ways in which measure, shipping or installation charges can be setup to automatically calculate: at the order level or at the product level.  Instructions for both methods are below.

Setting up shipping, measure and installation charges at the order level

  1. From within Solatech , go to File>Preferences
  2. In the left hand column, under Common, select Quotes and Orders
  3. In the right hand column, scroll down until you see the Pricing section
  4. Click on the button for the charge you wish to set up . For this example, we will use Installation
  5. Place a check mark in the box "Calculate installation at the order level"
  6. Using the drop down menu, select the method by which you would like installation to be calculated: Percent of Subtotal Before Discount, Percent of Subtotal After Discount, Flat Rate, Square Foot Multiplier, Linear Foot (Width) Multiplier, Linear Foot (Height) Multiplier or Per Unit.
  7. Enter the desired amount into the Rate box
  8. Place a check mark in the box next to  Allow installation overrides
  9. Click Close to exit
  10. Press OK to save your change

Note:  When using this method, the selected charges will be visible on customer output as shown below


Setting up shipping, measure and installation charges at the product level

Note: This may be set up to be visible to the customer or to be included in the line item price.

  1. From within Solatech, go to File>Preferences
  2. In the left hand column, under Common, select Quotes and Orders
  3. In the right hand column, scroll down until you see the Pricing section
  4. Click on the button for the charge you wish to set up . For this example, we will use Installation
  5. Place a check mark in the box Calculate installation at the product-level
  6. If you wish to hide the installation amount in the line item price, place a check mark in the box Include installation in the line item price
  7. Place a check mark in the box Allow installation overrides.
  8. Press Close to Exit
  9. Press OK to save your changes
  10. Navigate to Products>Product Manager
  11. Double click on the first product to which you would like to add the installation charge
  12. On the Product Properties window, select the Other Charges tab
  13. Place a check mark to the left of Automatically calculate installation
  14. Using the drop down menu next to Installation, select the method by which you would like installation to be calculated: Percent of Subtotal Before Discount, Percent of Subtotal After Discount, Flat Rate, Square Foot Multiplier, Linear Foot (Width) Multiplier, Linear Foot (Height) Multiplier or Per Unit.
  15. Enter the desired amount into the Rate box
  16. Press OK to exit and save your change.
  17. Repeat this process for all other products onto which you wish to add installation charges.

Note:  When additional charges are being calculated at the product level, you will need to add them to any new product downloaded in Product Updater.
