Starting with version 4.2.358 of the Solatech Window Covering Software, quotes or orders with one or more payments can no longer be deleted. When you try to delete the quote or order, you receive the following message

                The selected order cannot be deleted because on or more payments have been attached to it.

There are two reasons for this changed, the first of which is security. In order to make it more difficult for users to record payments and then delete them later, which could cause accounting irregularities; it was decided to make sure that employees could not delete payments. This change forces employees to create correcting entries’, which in turn causes an audit trail for payments.

The second reason for this change has to do with changes to how quotes and orders are synchronized with Roaming Workstations. Starting with version 4.2.358 payments can be recorded on a Roaming Workstation and then synchronized with the main system. In order to prevent payments from getting out of sync, which could cause the order balance and other accounting functions to get out of sync, the change was made to prevent payments from being changed or deleted.

How do you make corrections to a payment?

If you make a mistake while recording a payment, simply record another payment that corrects the amount. For example if you record a payment of $10, but it should have been $100, just correct with another payment for $90. If you record a payment of $40, but it should have been $30, just record another payment for $-10.
