Running low on disk space

Running low on disk space

MORE INFORMATION

One or more disk drives is running low on disk space, which may cause various problems with not only Solatech applications but other programs as well as Windows itself.

The first thing to do is to perform a disk clean up of each of your disk drives. To do this perform the following steps on each drive:

  1. Click Start, My Computer.
  2. Right-click on the first disk drive listed, usually drive C:
  3. From the menu, click Properties.
  4. On the General tab, click the Disk Cleanup button. This will start the disk cleanup utility which will scan your drive for unused files and show you a report of what it thinks you could delete to free up space. Solatech recommends accepting the default choises from this utility.
  5. Repeat these steps for each additional hard drive on your computer.

If after performing a disk clean up on your drives and you are still running low on disk space you may want to see if there are progrmas and utilitys installed on your computer that you no longer need. Uninstalling these programs may free up enough disk space. To review a list of the programs installed on your computer:

For Windows XP and Windows 2000

  1. Click Start, Control Panel.
  2. Double-click on the Add or remove programs icon.
  3. Review the list of programs installed and remove the ones you know you are no longer using. Make sure you only remove the programs you recognize as there will be many listed.

For Windows Vista

  1. Click Start, Control Panel.
  2. Double-click on the Program and Features icon.
  3. Review the list of programs installed and remove the ones you know you are no longer using. Make sure you only remove the programs you recognize as there will be many listed.
