Unable to add customers, vendors, shipping methods, etc.

Symptoms

SWCS starts but you are unable to add or edit customers, vendors, shipping methods, referral methods, etc. When you attempt to add a new shipping method the application does not do anything. If you attempt again to add a shipping method you receive the following error message:

Run-time error 438 - Object doesn't support this property or method

Other symptoms include:

  • Clicking File, Company Information opens the Company Information screen but no data appears
  • The application won't close

Cause

This can be caused when a shared component that the Solatech Window Covering Software uses is not registered correctly.

This can happen if other software, including non-Solatech software, installs an older version of this component or this component is unregistered when software in uninstalled.

Resolution

To fix this problem the component must be manually registered.

To register the shared component

Windows 32 bit

  1. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories.
  2. Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
  3. At the command prompt type: CD\ and press Enter.
  4. Then type CD windows\system32 and press Enter.
  5. Type regsvr32 actbar2.ocx and press Enter.
  6. When the prompt appears that the registration was successful, click OK.
  7. Type Exit and press Enter to close the command prompt.

Windows 64 bit

  1. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories.
  2. Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
  3. At the command prompt type: CD\ and press Enter.
  4. Then type CD windows\syswow64 and press Enter.
  5. Type regsvr32 actbar2.ocx and press Enter.
  6. When the prompt appears that the registration was successful, click OK.

  7. Type Exit and press Enter to close the command prompt.
