Im2buy empowers local business by providing a platform to compete with non-local web-based companies, such as Amazon. The project allows local business owners to easily bring their store front to the web. Consumers can search for local goods and make purchases from local businesses through the website. Im2buy also allows businesses to offer the add on services that consumers might receive by purchasing from the local store.

Im2buy is modeled after the American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA). Specifically their devotion to local commerce includes promoting “buy local” campaigns, and “fostering collaboration among local entrepreneurs to strengthen local economies and resident businesses.”
