How can Gold Standard (GS) Verified Emission Reductions (VERs) be issued for a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project?

How can Gold Standard (GS) Verified Emission Reductions (VERs) be issued for a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project?

The GHG Emission Reduction and Sequestration Product Requirements provides the following two options:

Option 1 – Convert Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) to Gold Standard VERs

OR

Option 2 – Transition CDM Project to Gold Standard For Global Goals

Option 1 provides flexibility by enabling CDM projects the choice of converting GS-CERs to GS-VERs while maintaining a valid CDM registration status, while Option 2 allows CDM projects to transition to Gold Standard for Global Goals for issuance of GS-VERs.
