Dynamically Change the Axes in GlyphViewer

Dynamically Change the Axes in GlyphViewer

This functionality allows you to change the axes of your visualization from within GlyphViewer instead of using DataMapper, enabling the user to easily move and / or swap out variables in the data set to examine correlational analyses more quickly.

  • Click on the “Change X, Y, Z Position Axes” toolbar button  .  A new window will open.

  • The Change X, Y, Z Position Axes window echoes some of the features of DataMapper.
    • The “Glyph” box on the left side of the window (1) displays an unmapped image of the glyph.
    • The top box on the right side of the window (2) mimics the “Data Bindings” pane in DataMapper.
    • The middle box on the right side of the window (3) mimics the “Data Stats” pane in DataMapper.
    • The “Filename” box on the bottom of the right side of the window (4) allows you to browse for or enter a name for the remapped visualization file.

  • Scroll through the “Data Stats” pane (3) and select the new field name that you would like to use for one of the existing axes.
  • Click + Drag the field name to the “Input” box corresponding to the axis you would like to replace (Position X, Position Y, or Position Z) in the “Data Bindings” window (2).
    • Note the Data Type and change the Data Binding “Function” as necessary based on the new data type selected for the axis
    • Edit the “Properties” of the Data Binding as desired
  • Repeat as necessary to change multiple axes
  • Change the file name, if desired (4)
  • Click “OK”

The remapped visualization, with the new selected axis / axes, will be displayed.

The new file name will also be displayed in the top left of the GlyphViewer window.

Save the visualization as its own entity to eliminate the need to re-map the axis / axes each time you wish to look at this view of the data.

To return to the original visualization of the data, open the original file from the File menu or from your Recent Views on the GlyphViewer home screen.
