I have problems with mp3 settings in Version 2.0, how do I fix this?

I have problems with mp3 settings in Version 2.0, how do I fix this?

There are several possible reasons for this problem.

1. When Version 2.0 of Song Surgeon is installed on your computer, it checks for the presence of Windows Media Player V 10 or higher on your computer.  If it does not find it, the installer prompts you and asks if it is okay to install WMP 11.  If you have an older version of WMP on your computer, you may not be able to get the higher quality MP3 settings.  If this is the situation you will need to install WMP 10 or newer on your computer.

2. Some users are not familiar with the dialogue box, opened by Windows, when you save as an MP3 file.  This dialogue box looks like this.

From this dialogue box, click the drop down arrow next to PCM.
This will allow you to select MP3, and will allow you to choose from
any of the mp3 settings up 320Kb/sec.

3. Another possible issue are your registry settings.  When Version 2.0 was installed on your computer, the installer checks
your computer's registry settings to make sure the higher quality mp3 settings found within your windows operating system
are turned on  or enabled.  If the installer was blocked from making these changes, you may not see the higher quality settings.  You may want to try running the following registry script that will modify your registry and again attempt to enable the higher quality settings.

4. One last possible reason that you can not get a higher quality MP3 setting is because the quality of the file you are trying to save is lower than the quality you are trying to save it as.  For example, if you have an mp3 file at the 128Kb/sec quality you cannot save it as a 320Kb/sec quality, or any other quality HIGHER than what it is.
