Using Preferred names in your REACH display

ARTICLE: How to include Preferred names as the display names for your students

Often schools may like to display student Preferred Names rather than actual First and Last Names on their REACH portal.  You can set how names display in your portal configuration.

Go to
System Configuration > General >Contact Name Format

Name formats that you can use for your display are
  1. Surname, Firstname
  2. Preferredname/Surname (Firstname is used if there is no Preferred Name saved)
  3. Firstname Surname
  4. Surname, Firstname Initial Only
  5. Surname, Preferredname (Firstname is used if there is no Preferred Name saved)
  6. Preferredname Surname
