Using the Kiosk Screen

The Kiosk screen is used to sign students in and out of the boarding house to and from various on and off campus locations, including signing them out to or returning from approved leave events.  To access the Kiosk navigate to  DashboardsKiosk View.

Kiosk Filters

Each item in each filter drop-down menu is configured by your school, and an item must be setup in System Configurations > Lookups
  1. All Houses: Filter by House/Dorm
  2. All Years: Filter by Year/Grade
  3. All Locations: Filter per Locations of Students On Campus/Off Campus
  4. All Groups: Filter by Groups 
  5. Alpha Selector: Right-hand side filter, allows student search by last name

Locations Legend

Each Location is configured by your school, and must be setup in System Configurations > Locations
  1. The colored ring around the students’ image and a bar at the bottom of their icon are quick references for indicating a student's current location logged in REACH.
  2. If Location Capacity is enabled and configured (System Configurations > Location), numbers appear on the color boxes indicating the current number of students per location.
  3. Clicking on a location's colored box will filter the displayed students to show only the students in that location
  4. Enabling the Multi-Selector tool will allow you to select multiple locations to have a quick view of the students in more than one location, deselecting location icons to remove that location from filtered view.

Icon Field

Students who are gated/restricted will display a lock icon indicating there are restrictions that need to be enforced.  A Sticky Note icon will be displayed If there is a Sticky Note that has been set to be acknowledged as a reminder for a student.

User Defined Fields (UDFs) can be configured in your System Configurations and assigned unique icons for quick reference in Kiosk view.  Each student icon slide will show any icons that correspond with configured UDFs based on the data entered into their profile.  The following are some examples of that what the icons could be representations of:
  1. Small car – Could indicate the student can drive or has permission to ride with other drives
  2. Heart – Could indicate the student has a medical condition
  3. Stethoscope – Could indicate that student carries an EpiPen for a specified allergy


Functions in the Kiosk screen


  1. Click on a student's image in the Kiosk view to open their location options
  2. Click on a student's name in the Kiosk SISO view to open their profile in the Student Sidebar
  3. Any approved leave events will appear below the student's image in Kiosk SISO view
  4. Changing a student's location updates in real-time and updates their location systemwide in Reach
  5. Some locations may be used as Quick Leave events (i.e., Local Shops) where students are automatically signed out to a leave event with a predetermined return time (xx minutes from sign-out) Quick Leave is configured in System Configurations > Locations

In the configuration for each location, you can determine which locations students are permitted to see or if the location requires a Staff Pin




  1. Kiosk Filters: Filter your Kiosk view by House, Grade, Location, Groups
  2. Toggle Display: View the Default Display or Identify Late Students at the top of the Kiosk ARTICLE: Display Late Students First in Kiosk
  3. Toggle Filters: Toggle between having the Kiosk Filters displayed or hidden
  4. Hard Refresh: Force a refresh to your browser and refresh your session (any unsaved work will be lost with a hard refresh)
  5. Toggle Locations: Toggle between having the Locations Legend displayed or hidden
  6. Quick Message: Send selected students a customized quick message either by email, internal, push or SMS (text messaging rates apply) ARTICLE: How to Quick Message Students and/or Parents with Kiosk Quick Connect
  7. Toggle Multi-Select/Single Select: Multi-Select allows for more than one student to be selected to perform a bulk action of a location change or sending quick messages.  Use the check mark in multi-select mode to quickly select all filtered students
  8. Connection Status: Displays if you are currently online or working offline
  9. Staff Kiosk View: Toggle between Staff Kiosk and Student Kiosk.  It is possible to use Mult-Select to select staff members to be able to use the Quick Message feature to send staff an email, PUSH notification, SMS (messaging plan required), and Email.
