How to get Device Mirror working between HardTrack Desktop and HardTrack Mobile running on a Handheld Computer




After following the instructions in the HardTrack users manual, you cannot get Device Mirror to run correctly on your PC, this article may assist you in resolving the issue.

Device Mirror will need to be initially installed.  This is usually taken care of during the HardTrack Desktop installation process.  If you need to install Device Mirror or if you want to run the install again to repair the application:



You should be able to run the Device Mirror from HardTrack Desktop:

It is normal to see this message when you Run Device Mirror:

Just click OK and the handheld's desktop should appear in the Device Mirror window.



If installing Device Mirror from HardTrack Desktop is not successfully completed, when Device Mirror attempts to run after the installation, you may receive a message that a Component is missing from Windows.

To correct this problem, the Windows Administrator will need to manually install this app, allowing it to install all of its components:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Wake, Inc\HardTrack\PowerToys.msi
Note: The device needs to be in the docking station and Windows Mobile Device Center should be running on the PC with the device connected.  

If you have not rebooted the device since Device Mirror was installed and running on the handheld.  You will see the multi-color globe icon if the Device Mirror is running on the handheld device:

Sometimes there is more than one icon if iDevice Mirror has been installed more than once on the handheld since a reboot has occurred on the handheld.

If you have rebooted the handheld since Device Mirror was installed on the handheld, then on the handheld you will need to install it again:



If while using Device Mirror and updating items, like the Location Name of a tag, if you experience an issue with not being able to type into a textbox or if you cannot use your backspace key from your PC's keyboard, run the Install again and Repair Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys:






It is a known problem that if the Device Mirror is installed too many times on the handheld, a Cold Restart may be required for the Device Mirror to connect from the Desktop:
