How to Prolong Rechargeable Battery Life for HTCII Devices

How to Prolong Rechargeable Battery Life for HTCII Devices

It is important to understand that a fully charged battery depletes at a much slower rate than a battery that has 45% or less power remaining.
  1. The batteries deplete very fast after 45% power remaining.
  2. When the batteries are at 97% to 60% power remaining, they deplete slowly.
To properly care for the HTCII's rechargeable batteries, please follow these steps:

When the pour monitoring period has been completed, always Stop Logging on your HTCII Devices.
  1. Allowing the device to continue to run after the point at which data is not needed will deplete the rechargeable batteries, possibly utilizing the replaceable backup battery.
  2. Allowing the Rechargeable batteries to fully deplete will shorten their useful life.
  3. Depleting the backup battery could cause a situation whereby in the future when the backup battery is needed to complete a pour's monitoring period, it may not have enough remaining power.

Always fully charge the batteries when a pour is complete and you remove the device for storage or use on another project.
  1. Storing your HTCII devices with charged-up batteries will prolong their useful lives.  The HTCII devices continue to connect to the HardTrack Cloud Server once every 24 hours to report their state and to pick up any queued-up commands.
When removing an HTCII from storage to use on a project, allow 48+ hours to fully charge the batteries.
  1. If a device is used on a pour, then placed in storage without recharging the batteries, it can take more than 48 hours to fully charge the batteries.
  2. Make sure that you check the Red/Green LED light on the charger for EACH device to make certain that the batteries are fully charged.
    1. It is possible that when you charge the batteries on several devices at the same time , 1 or more of the devices are NOT fully charged, due to the state of the individual batteries in each device.

To fully charge the HTC II, only use the provided battery charger to charge the device, otherwise, you may damage the batteries.  Connect the charger to the HTC II.  There is a small LED light on the charger's power supply that will change from Red to Green, then the battery is fully charged.

The LED on the power supply for the charger is Red when you initially plug it into the device and then into the A/C outlet

When the battery is fully charged, the LED light on the A/C power supply for the charger, will change to Green:

Note: if you plug the charger into the A/C outlet, before plugging the circular D/C end of the charger into the HTC II, you will also see a Green LED light on the Charger's power supply.  Please do not become confused about this.
Always plug the charger into the HTC II device, prior to plugging it into the A/C outlet.
