How Do I Create A Batch Recipe in Yellow Dog?

The first thing you will need to do when creating a batch recipe in Yellow Dog is create the items that is going to be attached to the batch recipe.

Set your level and vendor, generally you will have a level set for your batch recipes, and vendor set up for your in house items.  If you do not, you can choose to create a new level or vendor by using the blue hyperlinks see on this page.

Next you will want to name your item in the description field and assign the correct size for the item.

For this item, because it is made in house there is no vendor cost to be assigned so you can leave that field blank.  Batch recipes are also not generally sold at the point of sale or added to recipes as ingredient items, so you can un-check those boxes on the F & B details tab as well.

Next, navigate to the “Create Kit or Recipe” tab to add a recipe to this item.  Choose the “…” in the field Kit/Recipe to select the recipe you would like to attach to the item.

The window that opens up when you select the “…” will take you to the recipe look up for all of the recipes your user has permissions to access.  From here you can choose the recipe you would like to add or select “Create New Recipe” if your recipe has not yet been added into Yellow Dog.

Once you have selected and opened up the recipe that you would like to attach to your new batch recipe item, and assign the recipe behavior you would like to apply to your recipe, in this example “Batch Recipe” will be selected.

Once you have selected this behavior, your batch recipe is complete and you can save and close your new batch recipe item.

In Batch Recipe Behavior:

-In a manual adjustment, decreasing the on hand also decreased the ingredient items on hand.

-Increasing the on hand in a manual adjustment has NO affect on the ingredient items because the item holds no on hand.

-The item can be counted during a  physical inventory and the count will apply to the ingredient items for the batch recipe rather than this batch recipe item itself.
