Getting Started

Off we go!

Welcome and thank-you for choosing to Zync Free Surveys, to create, collect and analyse your next survey 

When you first load up the application you are presented with the following screen:



This is the Create Surveys section, and as the name suggests is the place where you can create new, build new from existing or update live surveys.


Lets publish your first survey in just 5 simple steps!

1 . Click the blank button
     
     

2. In Survey Name enter text as  'My First Survey'


This section controls how the survey looks and behaves

3. Add a question click 'Choice' then 'Yes / No'

If using a phone or tablet device first please click the Add button first




There are over 30 different question types to choose from.


4. Now add the question text of 'Do you like my survey?'



Here you can change the behaviour of the question, by adding images, links etc.


5. Click Publish, then click the tick to continue



  1. You will be asked to enter the name for your channel, enter what you like (it can be changed in settings later)
    1. think of channels like youtube, as people can subscribe to you and see your latest surveys.
  2. After entering your channel name you should receive an email shortly confirming the survey has been published

Now lets fill in our survey

If you have followed the steps from above, you should be on the 'Live Surveys' section and the newly created survey is showing in the list, like this


Where the channel name (in this case 'Bloggsworld2') is highlighted in grey, and your newly published survey is shown below.
Click on 'My first survey' and the screen will show the survey activity section as follows:



Now click on the Answer button and the survey will load as shown below:



Just click on the thumb up or down icon and then click Finished
This will send off the survey to be processed and will return you to the Live Surveys section.


Now lets share this survey with a friend

Click on 'My first survey' again
This time click on the share icon in the top right of the screen



Now click on the best social media method of sharing, or in this case we are going to copy the link to this survey to the clipboard to be pasted into an email



The friend receiving this email only has to click on the link and they will be able to complete your survey on their own browser!

Now let's look at our survey results!

View Data

From the live survey screen click on 'My first survey', and click the 'VIEW DATA' heading and the section will expand to show as below




As responses come in for your survey you can view the details of responses here, the date and time it was collected and version used, without the need to download the data first.
Also clicking on the filter icon:

Allows the collected data to be filtered by question column



Clicking on the copy icon:



Copies the displayed data to the clipboard for pasting in a suitable application (such as excel)

Clicking on the download icon:



Creates a zipped CSV of all the responses collected 

To filter the data by day of collection click on the from-to date drop downs



Only data collected between these dates will now be shown

Activity

To view the number of responses received click the activity section, responses received by day will be displayed as follows:



Again this section can be filtered between dates. Also clicking in the breakdown section shows data in a tabular format.

Summary

Click this section to view a graphical breakdown of the data collected for each question (were possible). 



Click on the question of interest, in this case 'Do you like my survey?', and the pie chart displays the results so far

 

The chart image can be downloaded, or a bar chart or table equivalent can be viewed.

Version

Use this section to choose which version of the survey should be live.



By default it is the last version published, but earlier versions can be selected if there is a need to roll back.

Lets create a new version of the survey

Ok so we made a mistake on our survey, we forgot to add the text question asking for feedback. So lets add that question to our survey now!

Navigate (via the menu) the Create Survey section as follows


Now click the VERSIONS button



On the next screen choose the survey we created earlier 'My first survey'


 
The system will load the current live version of the survey as follows:



Now add a new question as before, but this time click 'Text', 'Multi-Line Text', and type 'Please give me feedback'



Now click the publish button, click the tick box to accept and an email will be sent when the publishing process is complete.

The newly corrected version of the survey will be immediately available to receive responses.
Please note the new version number now showing under this updated survey
